Note Three of our 14 day series of love notes is to describe something you are proud of your partner for overcoming.
Hello and welcome to our third prompt of our 14 Days of Romantic Love Notes series! I’ll be following the 14 love letter prompts (listed in their entirety at the bottom of this post) one prompt per day. Be sure to snag the free printable at the end of the post if you want to follow along!
Note 3: What is something you are proud of your partner for overcoming?
There are so many times I’ve been impressed with Rich for doing something that was really hard for him. Off the top of my head:
- Basically all of grad school, but I remember his 2nd year comps being particularly rough.
- When he participates in National Novel Writing Month and writes a 50,000 word novel in a month (he has done this many times).
- When he gets a calling or assignment at church that doesn’t excite him, but then he rocks it anyway.
But the thing I wanted to talk about today is running.
Truth be told, neither Rich nor I exercised basically at all the first six or so years of our marriage (and yet we were the thinnest then . . . stupid 20s).
If you had a dime for every time we went running in that time-span . . .well you would be a very poor person indeed.
I would say neither of us consider ourselves very athletic, and yes, many-a-time our marathon-enthused athletic friends would elicit eye rolls from us.
Sorry friends.
But then I got it in my head to give running a shot, with the goal to really only be able to run for 30 minutes straight. And then I did that. And then a friend convinced me somehow that I could run a half marathon.
Although I was thoroughly convinced I couldn’t do it, I decided to give it a shot.
And I did.
But wait, this post isn’t about me it’s about Rich.
Silly me.
So the next year, I somehow convinced Rich he could run one too. He was skeptical and sometimes (most times?) he hated training for it.
But even though he wasn’t sure he could do it, and didn’t consider himself a runner, he did do it.
In fact, even though he trained less than me, had been running a year or so less than me, he totally schooled me. 🙂
Since then, we’ve done lots of races together and running has become a mutual hobby that we can enjoy together.
I’m so glad and proud of Rich for overcoming something he never thought he’d do.
So there you go.
Ok your turn! What is something you are proud of your partner for overcoming?
Remember, even thinking it in your mind can help fill your love tank. So even if you don’t write it out- think about it!
And if you want a designated space to write it out, fill out this form with “Romantic Love Notes” in the comment section and I’ll send a free PDF printable your way with all 14 prompts and space to respond on it 🙂
